Tripoli, 18 September 2013:
Saif Al-Islam Qaddafi will appear at Tripoli’s South Court tomorrow, according to Libya’s Attorney General, Abdulaqader . . .[restrict]Jumaa Radwani.
The announcement was made at a press conference just hours after spokesperson for Zintan Local Council Omar Matooq told the Libya Herald that Saif would be tried in Zintan.
“We have instructed Ministry of Justice penal institutions in Zintan, Misrata, Benghazi, Sebha and Zawiya to hand over Qaddafi elements,” said Radwani. “The state,” he said, “deals with institutions, not with cities or towns.”
Radawni added that necessary security measures had been taken to bring all the defendants to Tripoli. He added that there would be thirty-eight defendants in all.
The court session, under legal resolution 174, will be conducted in private, with media not allowed to attend. Thousands of documents will be considered, Radwani said, as part of the pre-trial hearing for the defendants. [/restrict]
