Tripoli, 30 August 2013:
Efforts to increase electricity supplies have taken concrete step forward with the announcement of a tender . . .[restrict]by the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for the installation of 500-600 MW gas turbine generators at the existing Khoms Power Station.
Electricity companies are being invited to submit offers for the design, installation and commissioning of the generators. According to the announcement, tender documents will be available on 2 September from the ministry on payment of LD 2,000.
The expansion project, initiated during the Qaddafi regime, was put on hold by the revolution.
Once the project at Khoms is underway, expansion of power stations in other towns and cities will be considered, a spokesman for the ministry said. [/restrict]
