Benghazi, 28 July 2013:
Benghazi was targeted with two bombs this evening, a Libya Herald reporter has confirmed.
A car-bomb was . . .[restrict]detonated outside Benghazi north courthouse and a bomb in a bag exploded between the Benghazi branch of the Ministry of Justice and the 7 October Hospital.
No-one was killed, but a number of people were injured. Spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Security Room, Mohamed Hejazi, told the Libya Herald that ten people were taken to hospital. An eyewitness at the scene said that three security guards from the courthouse were injured.
All three buildings were extensively damaged in the blasts and the courthouse is partially destroyed. There is serious structural damage to the Ministry of Justice building and the hospital, as well as the nearby National Oil Corporation offices.
The power of the blast shattered widows in many other buildings in the area, including ones some distance away from the explosions themselves.
The two bombs were detonated – just seconds apart – after evening prayers, when people were preparing for Iftar. [/restrict]
