Tripoli, 23 May 2013:
A police rapid response unit today went on duty at a Tripoli hospital after the . . .[restrict]latest in a series of attacks on medical professionals in clinics around the capital.
The police presence at the Abu Sitta Hospital for Respiratory Diseases in Souk Al-Juma came after a physical assault earlier this week on its general manager. A number of the attackers was arrested. However after talks that included the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health, Dr Hussein Rujbani and the chairman of the Libyan Doctors’ Association, Dr Mohamed Alghouj, it was agreed that the police unit be deployed to protect the hospital from further attacks.
