Benghazi, 8 February 2013:
A car bomb exploded in Beida early this evening near the headquarters of one of the town’s security . . .[restrict]support groups.
Three people were reported to have been slightly hurt in the explosion which also damaged two cars and shattered glass in a nearby building.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
There have been allegations of militants infiltrating Beida but nothing has been confirmed. There is, though, a strong undercurrent of federalist support in the town. Nonetheless, it is also the home of Interior Minister Ashour Shuwail and he enjoys widespread respect there. [/restrict]
