UNESCO, in cooperation with the Libyan Ministry of Education, organized a “Training Of Trainers” workshop on ”Managing Quality . . .[restrict]Education and INEE Minimum Standards”, which is the second activity in a capacity building program to improve the quality of education in Libya.
The project aims to build the capacity of the education system and Ministry of Education staff to improve the quality of education and respond to educational needs under the pressure of the transitional phase. The project is funded by the government of Japan, and spans eight months as the first phase.
The “Training Of Trainers” workshop was held from 22nd to the 27th of September 2012 in Tripoli, Libya. 30 Ministry of Education staff participated from the following regions: Green Mountain (Tubruk, Albeyda and Darna), Benghazi area (Benghazi and Almarij), Wahat area (Kufra and Jadu), Misrata area (Zliten, Khoms, El-Mergueb and Misrata city), Tripoli area (Tripoli city and Aljfara), Zawiya area (Zawiya city and Sabratah), Nafousa Mountain (Ghadamis, Gharyan and Nalut), Sabha area (Ghat, Sabha city and Alshati), most of them from the General Center for Training and Education Development, in order to prepare a national team of trainers to support quality education in the current transitional period.
The training workshop spanned the period of six days and covered the standards of the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), psychosocial support, adult learning principles and training skills. The objective was for participants to acquire the necessary skills to train their colleagues in their respective regions on using INEE standards to improve the quality of education.
This workshop was the second activity of the project, which consists of a series of capacity building and training activities on the central and national levels in Libya. It was preceded by a workshop on quality education standards in the transitional period in Libya, which targeted senior decision makers in the Ministries of Education and Higher Education.
The “Training of Trainers” workshop will be followed by a series of workshops in different regions to raise the awareness of the Ministry of Education’s staff regarding the importance of quality education in the transitional period the country is witnessing. [/restrict]
