Tripoli, 31 October:
A convoy of ten armed SSC vehicles carrying 35 personnel from the Supreme Security Committee’s Kufra branch left the . . .[restrict]town yesterday, Tuesday 30 October 2012, for Bani Walid.
Since Bani Walid was declared liberated on 24 October, the government has expressed its desire to see SSC units and the military police take on responsibility for day-to-day security duties from the army and allied brigades.
The head of the SSC in Kufra, Masha-Allah Hameed said that the mobilisation of this security force came on the instructions of the Ministry of Interior in order to establish total security within the town of Bani Walid.
Yesterday, outgoing Defence Minister Osama Juwaili accused Chief of Staff General Yousef Mangoush of having lost control of armed units inside Bani Walid which, he said, were harassing civilians there and preventing refugees from returning to the town.
