Tripoli, 26 September:
The main offices of the Mothers and Children’s Association in Waddan was ransacked yesterday by unknown criminals.
According to association . . .[restrict]director Mariam Mattli, computers, televisions, laser printers and other equipment were stolen. However, it is unclear if this was a case of simple theft common crime or if there were other motives. Documents were also stolen and the thieves tried to set fire to the premises, specifically to documentation relating to the association’s work.
The organisation, one of a number of civil society institutions created since the start of the February 17 Revolution, is involved in womens’ educational activities and other initiatives to increase women’s awareness.
