The General Electric Company of Libya (GECOL) has reported a number of explosions on Sunday at . . .[restrict]electricty pylons in the Wadi Mansour area between Tarhouna and Bani-Walid.
A GECOL official said that these lines link Khoms and Jabal Hasawena. A 441-kilometre stretch was affected as was the power supply to the manmade river system.
The culprits are unknown.
The Ministry of Electricity requested the Ministries of Interior and Defense to urgently provide protection for the maintenance teams. They were scheduled to start maintenance work on Monday morning. The ministry also requested protection for all strategic installations, power generating plants and power supply lines and action to prevent any sabotage by vandals. [/restrict]
