Tripoli, 4 August:
A shoot out near the Dahra Market in central Tripoli yesterday evening, Friday, left one person injured. A man . . .[restrict]was reportedly arrested.
The incident followed a drugs raid in the area by a Ministry of Interior local brigade. According to sources at Tripoli Military Council, the drugs dealer who was the object of the raid then phoned friends from Zawiat Al-Dahmani, reportedly members of the thuwar there, to come and help him. They did and the shoot-out started.
It was “all over in half an hour”, the source said, just before midnight. “We talked things out [with the fighters] and stopped the fight.”
In May, a fight between two families allegedly involved in drug dealing resulted in one man being killed and a shop close to the Dahra market being torched.
In a separate incident in Tripoli, Interior Ministry forces shot dead a man in Fashloom district yesterday evening who was wanted in connection with an earlier killing.
Ali Harrous had allegedly killed another man just before Maghreb yesterday. When members of the Supreme Security Committee went to arrest him at his home in Fashloom, he started shooting at them. They returned fire and shot him dead.
