Tripoli, 14 May:
Residents in Houn, including local council members, demonstrated in front of the court there on Sunday. They called for . . .[restrict]the re-activation of judicial proceedings in the Jufra region.
According to the Libyan news agency WAL, the locals want action against crime such as robbery. They also want steps taken against corruption by unnamed individuals.
Jufra’s security chief, Ahmed Alfaghi, said in a statement made to protestors that the reason why the judiciary had not been activated in the area as yet was due to the absence of any judicial police. They were essential, he said, for for the courts to function. [/restrict]
