Sirte residents were due to hold their first public meeting today about security, reconciliation, and reconstruction. The aim of . . .[restrict]the meeting is to discuss the possibilities of reforging local unity between those who supported Qaddafi and those who opposed him last year in the greater interests of rebuild the city and giving it a future.
Sirte’s civil society institutions held a meeting on Saturday at which a number of judges and lawyers were present to discuss recommendations and suggestions for the local council election in the city.
During the meeting, it was agreed to submit the recommendations to the local council and fora date for the new elections of the city council.
Meanwhile, also in Sirte, the local union of journalists has held its first meeting headed by Mohamed Zayed. Attendees discussed the role local media could have in supporting human resources development and reconstruction projects in the city.
