The Paris-based agriculture and agri-food analysts Agritel, which has an Eastern European office in Kiev, reports that Libya . . .[restrict]has bought 50,000 tonnes of Russian-grown wheat on the international markets.
This week Russia reported that since July 2011, it has exported a record 18.5 million tonnes of wheat, 125,000 tonnes more than the previous record in 2009/2010. As a result of drought and fires in 2010, Moscow imposed a temporary ban on all wheat exports. The main buyers of Russian wheat have traditionally been in North Africa, the Middle East and Turkey.
