Reports are coming in that Mitiga airport has been hit in an airstrike. Just before . . .[restrict]6pm this evening single warplane made a low pass over the airport after which a witness told the Libya Herald there was a loud explosion followed by a plume of black smoke.
UPDATE 5.30pm
Mitiga Airport website said that all flights were being diverted to Misrata. It also said that there had been no casualties in the attack although there had been hundreds of people at the airport.
Al-Watanya interrupted its religious programme “Islam and Life” to break the news. The presenter broke into a discussion to say that the attack had been made because of “envy” at Tripoli’s prosperity. [/restrict]
