The Chargé d’affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt, announced yesterday the signing of a lease of a new U.S. Embassy location in Tripoli. The exact location was not officially disclosed.
In a short statement, Berndt said “Today, I had the pleasure of signing the lease for property that will enable continued development of our new U.S. Embassy in Tripoli — an important step toward fully resuming U.S. diplomatic operations in Libya.
The United States is committed to strengthening our partnership with Libya and the Libyan people throughout all parts of the country. I was honored to be joined by Mr. Bashir Gnijiwa, Director of the State Properties Authority, to mark this occasion and to thank him for the invaluable support of Libyan government officials for our efforts.”
