Tripoli, 7 April 2016:
The website used by the National Salvation Government of Khalifa Ghwell was today taken over by the Presidency Council while at the same time, the Facebook page used by Prime Minister Abdullah Thinni appeared to have been taken down.
Yesterday Ghwell reversed his day-old decision to resign and declared his government was still in operation. However, the Ghwell website was this afternoon carrying the announcement that it is now under the Supervision Office of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord. The message goes on to list Council members and to promise that it will be updated soon.
By coincidence the Facebook page used by Thinni from his government’s Beida base is also today no longer working. The page carries the standard Facebook message that the content is no longer available. The Libya Herald was unable to contact anyone in the prime minister’s office to find out if there had been a deliberate change of page.
The website used by Ghwell had originally been that of the Libyan government. It was taken over by Omar Hassi, the first prime minister appointed the rump of the General National Congress and then passed to Ghwell when Hassi was fired. [/restrict]
