The House of Representatives is seeking to give itself a more professional and efficient edge . . .[restrict]by bringing on cadres of interns and clerks.
Ninety interns have just completed an inaugural six-month training course and passed out at a ceremony yesterday at the parliament’s temporary home in Tobruk’s Dar Al-Salam Hotel .
The interns, all young Libyans, were trained to provide logistical support to parliamentary committees. HoR Chief of Staff Abdullah Al-Masri, told local media, that these interns will play an important role because the committees serve are a driving force behind the HoR’s work.
The internship course, prepared and run by the HoR training department, is part of a drive to refine the performance of the HoR. The interns who had begun training last November, split into five different training groups to work through the course syllabus.
After the graduation ceremony Al-Masri reaffirmed that the HoR still plans to move its work to Benghazi once the city is secure. The Constitutional Declaration mandates that the HoR meets in Benghazi. However after last June’s election, the violence in the city decided the legislators on a short-term move to Tobruk.
