Tripoli, 21 May:
The manager of Afriqiyah Airways office at Tripoli International Airport, Abdul-Karim Wershafani, was seized and held for 12 hours . . .[restrict]on Sunday by airport guards following a dispute over staffing. According to Wershafani, the men were from the former Zintan brigade that had controlled the airport until 20 April when it was handed over to the Ministry of Transport. A number of the Zintanis were given security jobs afterwards.
Wershafani said that he had been arrested by the airport guard battalion because he sympathized with members of a backup security team during the quarrel between it and the Zintani guards. He said the quarrel, which resulted in the injury of one of the backup security men, had started when the guards tried to enter into the airport terminal.
He said that he was released following the direct intervention Warhsafana tribe elders who had threatened to use force if he were not freed.
