Tripoli, 12 February 2015:
A vaccine drive by the Ministry of Health (MOH) was launched Thursday in Gharyan.
It will run . . .[restrict]for two weeks and will target 4,000 first graders and 3,000 third graders who will be given vaccinations for polio and meningitis as well as a number of other infectious diseases.
This is the first year the MOH is offering the HPV vaccine, which is offered exclusively to girls for the prevention of cervical cancer, said Gharyan School of Health (GSH) Chairman Nuri Al-Triki.
Triki went on to say that the vaccines would be administered at GSH, rather than at the children’s primary schools.
Gharyan holds a vaccination campaign annually at the beginning of the year under the supervision of the Ministry of Health’s National Centre for Disease Control. [/restrict]
