Life is dignity, not petrol, electricity and water – Thinni

Tripoli, 20 October 2014:

“Life is dignity and not, as it is now claimed that there is security in Tripoli. . . .[restrict]What is this so called security, as they call it?, remarked Prime Minister Abdullah Thinni in a television interview Friday.

Thinni was reacting to claims that Tripolitanians getting accustomed to their city’s occupation by Libya Dawn forces who have stabilized security in the form of decreased crime, solved the petrol, cooking gas, bread and water crises that existed during the militia fighting in Tripoli this summer.

Some critics would claim that it was Libya Dawn who either caused or contributed to these crises and are only solving them to gain political support in Tripoli.

“Life is not fuel, nor electricity and water”, Thinni said. “Dignity is loftier than that. Even animals multiply and drink and eat. But for human beings there is dignity”, he said.

“Either they live with dignity or they die with dignity. But for a group (Libya Dawn) to come representing a specific class and seize power by force and imposes its will and insults and enslaves the Libyan people”.

“Anyone who tells the truth is killed and the sanctity of their homes is assaulted and scorched. Death is more honourable than this humiliation. Whoever wants to live in servitude, can live in servitude. Either the people live with dignity and choose through the ballot box who governs them, or death is more honourable”.

“And all those who fought against this murderous category of transgressors are martyrs and our dead will be in paradise and their dead will be in hell”, claimed Thinni.

“As for their fatwas (religious edicts) and the claims of their Mufti, they are void and any person-  even a child of ten – knows that these edicts are aggressive and beyond logic and custom and religion”.

“Everyone is preparing for martyrdom”, Thinni said, telegraphing a long threatened retaking of Tripoli. “Death is more honourable. Either this group (Libya Dawn) falls under and accepts the will of the people and resorts to logic, or they are to be  fought against. These are the Kharijites (radical extremists) of the era”, he claimed. [/restrict]
