French Interior Minister, Claude Gueant, yesterday (Friday) announced that Bashir Salah, who was Qaddafi’s chief of staff, and who . . .[restrict]is currently evading capture in France, will be arrested as soon as his ‘location is discovered’.
In a statement to France 24 and TFI, the French Minister added that ‘permission for temporary residence in France was granted to Salah because his wife is French’. However, since he was the subject of an arrest warrant, as soon as his whereabouts are discovered he will be arrested and presented to the courts.
At the weekly Wednesday official press conference held at the Libyan Prime Minister’s office in Tripoli, the official spokesperson, Nasser Al-Mana informed that the National Transitional Council (NTC) had formed a committee to investigate the circumstances of the escape of Bashir Salah from Libya, in view of the fact that he was a well known person and a symbol of the previous regime, and responsible for very large financial sums and portfolios.
In reference to queries raised by French authorities regarding the exact or real name of Bashir Salah, the official spokesperson went on to say that Libya’s Attorney General shall reply in detail in the coming few days regarding the repetition/duplication of the name of ‘Bashir Salah’ in the lists with International Police Agencies.
