Grants of between LD 8,500 and LD 25,500 (€5,000 and €15,000) . . .[restrict]are being made available for Libyan civil society organisations planning youth projects.
The organisation Civil Initiatives Libya (CIL) has called for civil society organisations to submit proposals for projects which facilitate the civic and political participation of young Libyans. The grants are being funded by the Swedish international development agency, and organised with support from the European Union.
According to CIL, eligible activities include “youth initiatives, educational and training projects, activities supporting Student Unions and engaging youth in local economic development and local decision-making, and activities that aim to strengthen the capacity and development of youth and youth organisations”.
In addition to the grants, successful applicants with also be provided with practical advice to ensure their projects succeed, such as being taught transparent management procedures.
This is the second Small Grants Scheme organised by CIL, itself funded by the European Union. Last year it awarded grants to nine organisations for projects under €10,000 (LD 17,000) targetting a the needs of women, youth and vulnerable communities in urban and isolated areas of Libya.
