Ali Zeidan toured Turkish Aerospace Industries in Ankara today ahead of meetings with the Turkish Prime . . .[restrict]Minister. A defence ministry spokesman said during the visit that Libya would look to buy a number of helicopters and personnel carriers from the country in the near future.
Zeidan has been in Turkey since Thursday where he has been discussing, among other things, ongoing cooperation with Turkey in the areas of defence and military procurement.
The Prime Minister was briefed at the aerospace company on the latest in industry technology and products. He also watched an arial display by cutting-edge BG1004 helicopters which carry state-of-the-art targeting equipment.
At a later meeting with with Turkish president, Abdullah Gul, Zeidan praised the country’s continued support, particularly in the training of police and the military. Gul stressed the need for disarmament in Libya to bring to an end current security concerns.
Zeidan has travelled with five ministers, for foreign affairs, economy, communications, housing and finance, as well as the under-secretary of defence and the governor of the Libyan Central Bank.
