Former Spanish national coach Javier Clemente is now officially Libya’s new football coach, after completion of formalities and . . .[restrict]paperwork.
An agreement was reached “in principle” in September for Clemente to coach the Libyan team but the contract has now been made official.
“I have been handed the mission to put in place a good structure and environment to enable the building of a great team,” Clemente said.
“I’m yet to understand the level of Libyan football,” he said, adding: “I will have to take some time to learn and adjust to the mentality of the people and philosophy of the game here.”
Clemente replaces former coach Abdul Hadifah Erbeesh, who resigned after the Libyan team was beaten 1-0 by Cameroon in a World Cup qualifier match.
Clemente has coached teams in Spain, Serbia and, most recently, Cameroon. [/restrict]
