A delegation from the Libyan Ministry of Culture headed by Libyan Culture and Civil Society Minister Dr Abdurrahman Habil has been . . .[restrict]in the UAE this week for the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2012.

During the visit, on Wednesday, Habil met with UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Abdurrahman Mohammed Al Owais. The meeting was also attended by the Libyan Ambassador to the UAE, Dr Aref Nayed, as well as other Libyan and Emirati officials. Talks focused on cultural cooperation between UAE and Libya

At the start of the visit, on April 3, Benghazi-based political scientist Dr Zahi Moghairbi and human rights activist Gumua Attiga from Misrata spoke about Libya’s election plans and the thorny issue of federalism.

As part of their itinerary  the delegation visited museums in Sharjah — Sharjah Art Museum, the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial and the Islamic Museum of Islamic Civilization — on Thursday to learn about the UAE’s efforts to safeguard and promote Islamic culture and heritage.

On the same say, the Libyan Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Libyan Embassy in the UAE organised a poetry evening in Abu Dhabi.  It featured the seven Libyan poets who were part of the delegation to the book fair.
