Sebha anti-federalist demo flops

Tripoli, 18 August 2013:

The federalist agenda continues to divide opinion in Sebha.  However, from the low turnout at an anti-federalist demonstration . . .[restrict]in the city today, it might appear that the federalists are winning the argument.

Around 40 people assembled outside the Sebha Council offices this morning. Six months ago, a far larger crowd demonstrated in favour of a federal solution, claiming that the central government had neglected the region for too long. Were federalism ever to be adopted, Sebha would almost certainly once again become the capital of Fezzan, with Tripolitania and Cyrenaica the other two provinces, as it was under the 1951 constitution.
