Next week’s “Libya Projects 2013” conference . . .[restrict]and workshop to be held at the Corinthia hotel, Tripoli, Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 June is expected to attract around 300 key individuals representing major Libyan and international organisations.
Co-organised by MEED and BM Libya, the large 3-day conference is supported by the GNC and will highlight the key developments, opportunities and projects in Libya across various critical industries.
Local participating organizations include the National Oil Corporation, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, the Libyan Businessmen Council as well as the Central Bank in Libya.
There will also be senior Government officials, and confirmed speakers include; Juma Attiga, Vice President, General National Congress, Libya; Awad al-Baraasi, Deputy Prime Minister, Libya; Ali Hussein Al- Sharif, Minister of Housing and Utilities, Ministry of Housing and Utilities ; Al Saddek Omar Elkaber, Governor, Central Bank of Libya, Libya; Ali A. Ibrahim, Deputy Minister , Ministry of Housing and Utilities; Dr. Khalil El-Arroudi, Chairman, GECOL; Mahmoud Bashir Ajaj, Chairman, Housing and Infrastructure Board, Ministry of Housing and Utilities and Salem El- Talhi, Director of Finance, Admin and Services, Ministry of Oil and Gas .
Delegations and trade associations from around the world attending and speaking will include the Libyan British Business Association (LBBC), the American Chamber of Commerce in Libya and the United States-Libya Business Association (USLBA).
The Washington DC-based US-Libya Business Association (USLBA), which represents the largest US investors and employers in Libya is a supporting partner of “Libya Projects 2013.”
Its members include world leaders in major global projects such as AECOM, Hill International, Parsons, Fluor, General Electric, Motorola Solutions, Dow Chemical, United Gulf Construction and Citi.
“Libya is in a unique position on the Mediterranean and in the world right now. If managed properly, Libya has all the ingredients to leap frog into a top tier of technology-based sustainable global economies” commented Chuck Dittrich, USLBA Executive Director.
Asked by Libya Herald what he felt US companies offered Libya, Dittrich highlighted long term partnerships and human resource development.
“U.S. companies bring the training, technologies, and commitment to create long lasting partnerships with the government and the private sector to not only create intelligent transportation, environmental, medical, energy, housing and educational infrastructure, but also to respond to Libya’s priorities in developing its human capital in a way that positions it as a regional development engine”, concluded Dittrich.
