The French school in Tripoli is to close for an entire academic year because of security . . .[restrict]concerns
Some 150 pupils at the college and lycée in the Hay Andalus area of the capital, will have to find alternative schooling, when the institution keeps its doors closed this September for the entire school year through to June 2014.
A source close to the school told the Libya Herald that the decision had been made with considerable regret. However, in view of the 23 April attack on the French embassy, it was felt that security concerns could not be met and the school should suspend its work until next summer. Pupils were on a two week holiday at the time of the embassy bombing but thereafter did not return to classes.
The position of Tripoli’s Institut Français, a government-funded body promoting French culture, is believed to be still under review. [/restrict]
