Tripoli, 23 December:
Sirte local council held an extended meeting on the security situation in the area last night, Libyan news agency . . .[restrict]LANA reported.
Local Council chief Ali Dhaw attended the meeting, along with the head of the local branch of the temporary Supreme Security Council (SSC) and representatives of local battalions of Libya Shield and other groups under the control of the army and security services.
The meeting was called to discuss security in the coastal town, and particularly how the different units based in area could cooperate to help problems such as illegal immigration and smuggling. [/restrict]
