The Chairman of the Libyan Telecommunications Holding Company (LPTIC), Ali Bin Gharbia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding last Friday (23 January) with representatives of the American company KBR Inc. (Kellogg, Brown and Root), in the presence of the Board’s advisor and several directors of relevant departments and offices within the company.
KBR is a leading global company in engineering consulting, technical solutions, and infrastructure. It possesses extensive experience and a proven track record in implementing major strategic projects, particularly in the areas of telecommunications infrastructure, data centers, and cybersecurity.
The meeting addressed prospects for cooperation, partnership, and joint investment between the two parties, supporting efforts to develop and improve Libyan infrastructure and enhance 5G networks. They also agreed to continue coordination and hold subsequent meetings to finalize the technical and implementation aspects and establish practical frameworks to activate this cooperation, thereby contributing to improving the quality of telecommunications services in Libya.
In this context, Chairman Bin Gharbia, affirmed that this memorandum represents an important step within the Holding Company for Communications’ direction towards building strategic partnerships with international centers of expertise. The MoU supports the transfer of knowledge and the employment of advanced technical solutions, and contributes to enhancing the readiness of the communications sector for the requirements of technological development, and achieving sustainable added value for the national infrastructure.
