The Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund (LDRF) reported last Monday (19 January) that a delegation from the French company Veolia-Sidem, headed by Engineer Olivier Merroué, the company’s General Manager, arrived in Sousse on the same day. They were received by the plant’s General Manager and the heads of the technical and engineering departments.
The French company came to continue its work on the Sousse steam desalination plant. The plant suffers extensive corrosion and damage to its basic components, as well as a low operating capacity which fails to meet the actual needs of the city of Sousse.
The LDRF reported, the company began its work and technical meetings at the plant on the same day. An extensive technical meeting was held to review the scope of work proposed for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the plant, discuss relevant technical aspects, and explore mechanisms for improving operational efficiency and performance.
This aims to ensure the sustainability of the service, stabilize the drinking water supply, and meet the needs of citizens in the short and long term.
