The Libyan Customs Authority reported yesterday that, in cooperation with the Internal Security Agency, it had foiled an attempt on the same day to smuggle €490,290 out of the country at Misrata International Airport.
The suspect, a Libyan national traveling to Istanbul on a Berniq Airways flight, was arrested after completing travel procedures. The money was found concealed in a hidden belt.
The Customs Authority confirmed that the incident violates customs and currency laws, and that legal measures have been taken to refer the suspect and seized funds to the competent prosecution.
