With the support and supervision of the Department of Support and Development of Medical Services (DSDMS), Tripoli’s Al-Khadra Hospital performed 10 cardiac catheterization operations using the modern “TAVI” technology, under the supervision of specialized Libyan medical staff.
Al-Khadra hospital said the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), is a cutting-edge technique for the treatment of aortic valve stenosis – heart valve replacement – without open-heart surgery.
The procedure is performed by inserting a catheter from the femoral artery to insert a new valve that reduces the risk and speeds up recovery, especially for the elderly.
These operations were supervised by a specialized team of cardiologists and interventional catheterization, using the latest imaging techniques and medical support.
The DSDMS, part of the PM’s Office, said it continues to implement the plan to perform 15 operations within the prepared programme, within the framework of the project to localize treatment inside the country, which it added, the Tripoli government pays special attention to – to enhance advanced medical services within Libyan hospitals.
