Benghazi Chamber of Commerce reported yesterday that it had organised a training seminar in Benghazi from 11 to 12 October entitled “Producing Olives and Olive Oil with International Standards”
Benghazi Chamber said this comes as part of its continuing efforts to support the agricultural sector and enhance the status of Libyan products.
A group of experts and specialists from Arab countries participated in the event, along with a group of official figures and institutions concerned with the agricultural sector.
The seminar was widely attended by olive press owners, farmers, and those interested in the olive oil industry, who engaged in discussions that addressed the latest agricultural practices and modern technologies in olive production according to international standards, ensuring higher quality and greater competitiveness for Libyan products in foreign markets.
During the seminar, Benghazi Chamber emphasized its commitment to enabling Libyan farmers and producers to acquire the knowledge and expertise necessary to develop this vital sector.
It said the sector is a pillar of the local economy and a promising area for achieving economic diversification in the eastern region, adding that the event represents a new step toward elevating Libyan olive oil to a distinctive status in regional and global markets.
