The Attorney General’s Office reported last Friday (3 October) that its Public Prosecutor has ordered the detention, pending trial, of the Acting Director of Benghazi’s Al-Hawari General Hospital during 2018 and 2019.
The hospital director was accused of seizing medicines and medical supplies valued at 995,000 dinars, authorizing the purchase of medicines valued at 435,000 dinars, at a price exceeding the market price, and disbursing 52,000 dinars without any documentation proving the fairness of the transaction.
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s investigation, within the jurisdiction of the Benghazi Court of Appeal, established the hospital director’s responsibility for 2018.
The investigator concluded his interrogation with a report ordering his pretrial detention pending investigation. He ordered the arrest of the remaining accused co-conspirators.
