Libya’s state National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced yesterday that Mellitah Oil and Gas Company is preparing to drill eight gas wells in water depths of up to 100 meters in the offshore formation (A) site.

The company is scheduled to begin drilling operations soon after the arrival of the Valid Rig, a rig operated by Borr Drilling, a leading global oil and gas drilling company.

The company is expected to complete drilling operations within 15 months, reaching its target production of approximately 160 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The NOC said this will enhance the stability of natural gas supplies to the local market, supplying power plants, cement factories, and the iron and steel plant, in addition to providing cooking gas.
