The Tripoli based Libyan Foreign Ministry reported yesterday that, after ten years, and after settling outstanding debts, Libya has recovered two ships stranded in Malta.
The Foreign Ministry reported that after the strenuous efforts through its Embassy in Malta, and in coordination with the Maritime Ship Debt Settlement Committee, Libya was able to recover the dredger, Misrata, last Saturday (1 February).
The dredger Misrata was received on Saturday by the Minister of Marine Resources, Adel Sultan, in an official ceremony upon its arrival at Tripoli’s Shaab Port.
Two ships stranded in Malta due to accumulated debts
The Foreign Ministry said this achievement comes in implementation of the directives of the Tripoli based Libyan Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Aldabaiba, who directed the settlement of the debts of the dredger, Misrata, and the other stranded ship in Malta, Hani.
Both ships have been stranded in Malta as a result of the accumulation of debts on them.
