Workshop on protecting local industry was held in Tripoli

A workshop took place last Tuesday (24 September) in Tripoli organized by the National Industry Promotion Authority (NIPA) in cooperation with Tripoli Chamber of Commerce under the title ‘‘Protection of the Local Product Towards a Sustainable Industrial Economy’’.

‎The workshop shed light on how to develop mechanisms and legislation to support and protect national products and goods imported from abroad and combat the policy of dumping on the local market with them. ‎

‎Issuing decisions and laws that provide this protection and reciprocity of countries with regard to trade exchanges , was also discussed‎

‎After reviewing the scientific papers, the Director General of NIPA and the Dean of the Industrial Technology College of Misrata opened a panel discussion during which proposals and opinions on ways to protect the local product were discussed. ‎

‎Several recommendations emerged from the workshop that will be referred to decision makers in order to protect the local industrial product.‎

The workshop was attended by several officials, most notably ‎

‎• Minister of Economy and Trade ‎

‎• Chairman and the Director General of NIPA ‎

‎• President of Tripoli Chamber ‎

‎• Chairman of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company ‎

‎• Dean of the Industrial Technology College of Misrata ‎

‎• Director General of the Industrial Information and Documentation Centre ‎

‎• President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture ‎

‎• Director General of the Customs Authority ‎

The event was also attended by several directors of offices and departments at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and the Ministry of Economy and Trade and a group of those interested and concerned with industry and the national economy.
