Benghazi Chamber of Commerce reported today that UAE’s Emaar signed a contract with the (Hafter managed) National Development Agency to design and implement the new Benghazi ‘‘Downtown’’ project and the Elmreisa Free Zone (EFZ).

The EFZ would become ‘‘the largest free zone in the North Africa’’, Benghazi Chamber of Commerce reported. Several other projects were also discussed, the report said.

The EFZ, Benghazi Chamber of Commerce reported, would contribute to providing more than 40,000 job opportunities, as well as settling more than 500 small and medium sized enterprises and enhancing transit trade opportunities between Africa and Europe.

This, it continued, would support and encourage investment opportunities, trade and industrial exchange, and economic growth at the local and international levels.‎
