The prime minister of the Tripoli based Libyan government, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, opened Saturday in Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), the International Conference and Exhibition for Ports and Free Zones, (ICPFZ) with the participation of 50 local and international companies and the presence of several experts and those interested in free zones.

Conference will open door to international cooperation
Speaking exclusively on the event to Libya Herald, the Director of the MFZ Media Office, Alaa Baba, said the conference will have a good impact on the adoption of ideas and strategies that will be presented through it to develop free zones in Libya. It will, he added, open the door to cooperation with international expertise in this field, in addition to being a specialized conference on the most important global trends in the port industry, free zones and transit trade.

25 international speakers
Baba said the event will cover all topics related to international policies and trends, digitization and logistical work, delivered by 25 international speakers and experts. There will also be an accompanying exhibition of the most important companies related to port and logistics activity and free zones with the participation of 50 international and local companies.

Free zones are important source of hard currency
The Director of the MFZ Media Office pointed out the contribution of the conference and exhibition to adopting integrated investment plans to enhance the ability of ports and free zones to compete. He said free zones are one of the most important economic resources for their active role in the movement of trade exchange between countries and an important source of hard currency as a source of income and an important economic component, contributing to absorbing the workforce at various levels and skills.

Enhance North African cooperation
Regarding regional and international partnerships in the field of free zones, Baba said, “The conference will enhance cooperation and relations between ports and free zones in North Africa, as participants can explore joint projects, trade agreements, infrastructure projects, and other cooperation opportunities that can enhance economic growth and trade in this region. Participants will be able to learn about the business environment, tax laws, and competitive advantages offered by the MFZ, which will help make good investment decisions within it.’’
