Several meetings held at the Moroccan Libyan Business Forum held from 1 to 3 November at Tangiers, Morocco

Several meetings were held between the two sides at the Moroccan Libyan Business Forum held from 1 to 3 November at Tangiers, Morocco.

Last Thursday, Libya’s Minister of Industry and Minerals, Ahmed Abu Hisa, met with Riad Mazour, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Morocco, at the Ministry’s Rabat headquarters, in the presence of the delegations of the two countries.

The Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade welcomed the Minister and the delegation accompanying him, expressing his country’s readiness to extend bridges of partnership and cooperation between the two countries in the field of industry and minerals.

For his part, Abu Hisa stressed the importance of activating bilateral relations and work partnerships in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries. Abu Hisa presented the most important topics that could be a framework for joint work between the two sides, including:

  • Benefiting from the experience of the Moroccan side
  • Establishing and managing technological parks
  • Preparing and managing industrial zones
  • Helping establish a clean production centre
  • Establishing a partnership between the Libyan Iron and Steel Company and Moroccan companies specialised in manufacturing car chassis

Abu Hisa also invited the Moroccan side to invest in companies affiliated with the sector in Libya’s Tajoura Industrial Complex.

Joint working team
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties confirmed the appointment of a joint working team to follow up on what was agreed upon, and the Minister Abu Hisa invited Minister Riad Mazur to visit Libya to review the capabilities that Libya enjoys.

Moroccan Exporters Association
Last Friday, Minister Abu Hisa met the President of the Moroccan Exporters Association at the association’s headquarters in Casablanca.

The meeting discussed the importance of trade relations and partnerships between Libya and Morocco and the volume of trade exchange regarding industrial products produced in the two countries. It also discussed opening investment opportunities in industrial institutions in Libya and Morocco for investors and providing the necessary facilities.

Specialized joint committee agreed
It was agreed to form a specialized joint committee between the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and the Moroccan Exporters Association to undertake the process of communicating and linking those interested in the industrial field and investment.

Industrial Forum to be held in Libya
Minister Abu Hisa invited the President of the Moroccan Exporters Association to hold a large industrial forum in Libya attended by businessmen from both parties, with the participation of financial institutions and banks.

On the sidelines of the forum, an accompanying exhibition was held with the participation of 13 Libyan companies registered in the Libyan Export Promotion Centre’s (LEPC) Exporters’ Registry, along with several Moroccan companies.
