The Libyan Moroccan Forum for Trade and Business will be held from 11 to 14 September in Tangiers, Morocco, organisers, the Outbox Team event management company told Libya Herald.

The event will be held in partnership with the Libyan Export Development Centre (LEPC) and with the support of the Tripoli-based Ministry of Economy and Trade, and in cooperation with economic institutions in Morocco.

Within a national strategy
In an exclusive interview with Libya Herald, Yassine Bousrewil, General Manager of Outbox, said “The organization of this forum comes within the framework of the national strategy to link the relations of Libyan and Moroccan suppliers, exporters, chambers of commerce, and free zones with the Maghreb and African markets.

During this event, meetings will be held with the public and private sectors in the Kingdom of Morocco and an accompanying exhibition will take place as well as a visit to both the Tangier Med Free Zone and the Dakhla Free Zone’’.

More than 100 businesses
Bousrewil said there will be more than 100 business leaders and commercial dealers from Libya participating in the event. They aim to enhance trade and economic exchanges between the two countries and to raise the level of trade exchange within the framework of the openness and aspiration of the Libyan private sector to export and strengthen its position in the African continent. They also aim to open the door for Libyan Moroccan joint investment in African countries, especially in view of Morocco’s great competitive advantages that make it the ideal trading partner.

Event welcomed by Moroccan authorities
He said the Moroccan governmental authorities, as well as the official bodies representing the private sector, welcomed the establishment of this forum. The forum came because of a common vision to strengthen complementary economic relations between the two countries, especially since Libya has good economic capabilities, and in return Morocco enjoys natural and human resources that make participation between the two countries economically very beneficial.

Moroccan progress beneficial to Libya
Bousrewil touched on the progress made by Morocco in the field of basic infrastructure and various service facilities, such as transport, communications, educational, health and tourism services, which make it the most developed in the North African region during the past years. This is especially the case with the localization of many different industries, of which Morocco seeks to be self-sufficient and to export its surplus abroad.

This, he continued, is what makes investment in partnership with the Moroccan side beneficial to the Libyan economy and to benefit from the Moroccan experience in transferring industrial technology in many fields from Europe to Libya.

This, he concluded, will be the basis for a broad economic partnership with Morocco and several countries of the Maghreb and Africa.
