Brega Marketing Company, the National Oil Corporation subsidiary charged with distributing fuel across Libya, reported yesterday that the new Labraq airport Aviation Fuel Depot was opened on 31 March.

This joins the company’s chain of airport fuel depots in all regions and cities of Libya, it added. The completion of Brega’s new aviation fuel depot will enable Labraq airport to receive aircraft and provide their needs of aviation fuel around the clock, Brega explained.

The new fuel depot contains four fuel tanks with a total capacity of 200,000 litres, a fire extinguishing and cooling system for tanks linked to a tank with a capacity of 200,000 litres and an integrated maintenance workshop.

It also contains a quality laboratory equipped with devices and equipment to ensure the quality of fuel, an administrative headquarters that contains eight offices, a meeting room and a rest room for workers equipped with all amenities.

Brega also reported that the implementation of Benina Airport Aviation Fuel Depot is in full swing. There, the administrative building has been equipped and the tanks were supplied, and work is underway to supply more tanks so that the storage capacity is appropriate with the volume of work at Benina Airport.

Planning is also underway to connect the tanks area with a land line to the aircraft parking yard, as well as providing the yard with a network of ground supply, which gives speed and flexibility in aircraft refuelling operations.
