Turkish construction company, Metis, has started the implementation of the new Airport Road traffic light junction bridge (flyover).

Speaking exclusively to Libya Herald on Thursday, the mayor of Tripoli’s Abu Salim municipality, Abdul Rahman Al-Hamdi, said that construction works in implementing the flyover at the Airport Road traffic light is proceeding at a good pace, and initial works currently in progress have reached 40 percent.

Precast parts will be imported from Turkey
Al-Hamdi confirmed that after eight months, the project and its connecting roads will be handed over by the Turkey’s Metis, which is executing the flyover, to the Transportation Projects Implementation Agency, the entity that owns the project. He revealed that the steel structure of the bridge columns and reinforced concrete barriers will be brought in from Turkey.

The flyover is key to an important area
Al-Hamdi said the flyover is important in facilitating the movement of cars from the Abu Salim area to the Al-Falah-Al-Jibs Road. In this vicinity, there are several government institutions, large commercial stores, stores of goods and various commodities, and the main bus station. He revealed, without giving any more details, that the completion of these is being negotiated with a foreign company.

There is also the presence of the large mall project (Zumurrud Tripoli Gate project) near the traffic light signal, and close to it, the Bab Tripoli residential, commercial and investment project, which is considered one of the most important real estate projects in Tripoli. Therefore, the implementation of the flyover will facilitate movement to and from all the mentioned projects, Al-Hamdi explained.
