London, 20 September 2021:
The Libyana Mobile phone company, a subsidiary of the state holding company Libyan Post Telecommunications and Information Company (LPTIC), announced yesterday the arrival of equipment which will improve 4G coverage in the southern municipality of Ghat. Ghat is located in southwestern Libya on the Algerian border.
Libyana reported that its maintenance teams began working on improving coverage between Ghat Al-Madinah, Al-Birket and Tahalah. Additionally, the final phase of connecting fibreoptic cables to both Ghat International Airport and the border crossing with Algeria has been completed.
The service improvement came in accordance with the agreement between the LPTIC and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Ramadan Boujnah, to develop and improve the telecommunication infrastructure in the southern region of Libya.
LPTIC reported that its subsidiary companies are working on implementing several projects aimed at expanding 4G services and improving telecommunication networks in the south of Libya.
It added that it has made the southern region an important part of its 2021-2023 strategic plan which is centred on infrastructure development, digital transformation and diversifying Libya’s national economy.
