Tripoli, 31 July:
People in Kufra are finally to be paid the family grant voted in February by the NTC to celebrate . . .[restrict]the first anniversary of the revolution. Payments started in April and the bulk of Libyan families have been paid the LD 2,000 per husband and wife and LD 200 for each of their children.
Residents in Kufra, however, were unpaid because of inadequate data on which to assess and make the payments. It has reportedly caused considerable dissatisfaction in the town.
However, the head of Kufra local council, Muhammad Bosdaina, yesterday confirmed that the civil registry office has completed work on a database, thus facilitating the payment of the grant.
He said that funds will now be transferred to the banks and would be paid to families in the next few days.
The grant will still continue to be paid nationwide until February 14, 2013.
