A new video has emerged of a Libyan National Army (LNA) officer said to be a Saiqa Special Forces commander, executing a captured militant.
The individual, who resembles Colonel Mahmoud Warfali, is seen shooting a kneeling prisoner in the head with a pistol from a few feet away before walking up to the man and firing off two more shots point blank.
Beforehand the gunman waving his right arm quotes texts from the Koran and the Hadith dealing with executions and receives murmurs of approval from men in the room.
It is claimed the video was taken in the last few days somewhere in Benghazi. The victim is reportedly an Algerian member of the so-called Islamic State who was said to have been caught trying to place a bomb under a vehicle.
In March a video of the same individual killing other three Islamist prisoners was also released. It is unclear when the new execution took place.
In March the gunman had a sling on his right arm. In the new video the support has been removed and he is using the arm with relative ease. As with the previous killings, the gunman fires his weapon with his left hand.
After the last summary executions video, LNA spokesman Ahmed Mismari said the army would investigate every soldier suspected of war crimes. It is unclear if any action has been taken.
