The Ministry of Industry and Minerals’ Green Industry Centre reported yesterday that it had held a virtual meeting the previous day with the founder of VECSUS, a Turkish company specializing in environmental solutions and digital sustainability.
This meeting was part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships and leverage modern technologies to support Libya's transition toward sustainable industry.
Discussions focused on mechanisms for technical cooperation regarding the management and calculation of industrial carbon footprints in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 standard and the implementation of the European Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
The meeting also addressed training and consultancy programmes designed to help national companies meet global environmental requirements.
Additionally, both parties reviewed the company’s expertise in industrial waste recycling, energy recovery, and the conversion of cooking oils into biofuel, while exploring ways to adapt these solutions to the realities and challenges of the local industrial landscape.
Both sides affirmed their commitment to ongoing communication to identify priority sectors—including iron and steel, cement, and services—and to develop phased action plans that support digital transformation and national capacity building, ultimately fostering a more sustainable industrial economy.
