The Healing Little Hearts and the Helping Hands for Libyan Children will be launching their fourteenth campaign to treat children with heart conditions from 3rd to 10th October in Libya.
Bank ABC is covering the full costs of this campaign – as it has done for several previous ones. Husni Bey is also contributing.
The UK NGOs will be treating 50 Libyan children suffering from congenital heart defects, former Libyan Health Minister, Dr Nagi Barakat, reported today.
The specialized medical team comes from the Healing Little Hearts association in the UK and organized by the Helping Hands for Libyan Children association.
Healing Little Hearts is a UK-registered children's charity (No. 1130194) that provides free life-saving open heart surgery and cardiac catheterisation to babies and children suffering from congenital heart disease (CHD) in developing countries.
All services provided during the campaign are entirely free of charge; neither the children nor their families will incur any costs. The visiting doctors—all of whom are consultants—are volunteering their time and expertise, having previously participated in earlier campaigns in Libya.
The campaign, as with previous campaigns, will take place at the (Tajoura) National Heart Centre in Tripoli which plays a vital role in ensuring the success of these campaigns and in providing care for the children.
