Sirte Oil Company reported yesterday that it had achieved a new technical milestone and success at its Al-Lahib Field by completing well maintenance on UU-39. This resulted in initial production exceeding 1,200 barrels of oil per day with very low water content.
The company said this was achieved by its Libyan workforce and yielded outstanding results exceeding expectations and contributed to restoring the well to high-efficiency production.
The company said this comes as part of its wider plan to maintain and increase production capacity at its fields.
Implementing a comprehensive technical programme
The maintenance work included implementing a comprehensive technical program that involved sealing the water-producing layer by installing a tight cement plug. This followed precise acidizing and preparation processes to ensure the isolation of the water-producing layer and prevent water from flowing into other producing layers. The completion process was preceded by specialized technical and engineering studies and a comprehensive analysis of electrical wiring and well data. This enabled the technical team to accurately identify the target layer and select the best technical solutions for recompletion of the well.
Sirte Oil said, thanks to the efforts and expertise of its national workforce, the targeted upper layer was successfully penetrated, and the well was brought into production. Initial tests have shown the operation to be a resounding success. This reflects the accuracy of the studies conducted and the efficiency of the engineering and technical work completed during the maintenance and completion phases, it added.
The company said this success is clear evidence of the exceptional level of expertise attained by its national talent in the drilling and petroleum engineering department.
